Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the North Texas Workforce Solutions Employer Survey:

Who authored the survey and why?  The survey is a partnership between Workforce Solutions (the 11-county workforce investment board in North Texas), all the economic development organizations,  education, and training providers in the region. 

Why are companies being asked to participate? The accuracy of the survey depends completely on having the maximum number of respondents filing it out.  Unlike a typical survey where data are gathered in a random sampling and then the results are extrapolated, this tool will actually aggregate the data and provide the most accurate results possible. 

Where did this survey tool originate?  The partnership mentioned above went looking for such a tool and discovered it simply didn’t exist.  No other region has created this type of self-directed, instant gratification tool for employers, so we created our own.

Who paid for the survey to be created and why is it being offered at no cost?  Workforce Solutions used grants totaling nearly $20,000 to design, write, test, and implement this unique, one-of-a-kind tool.  To maximize region-wide participation, the decision was made not to charge any businesses for the data. 

What’s the catch?  The catch is this - the aggregate data is only as good as the respondents make it.  We must have a minimum of 25% of the regional businesses participate to achieve statistically accurate results.  Therefore, not only should you fill out the survey, but you should send it to five (5) other companies in the region.  See map below for boundaries. 

Who should fill out the survey?  The survey was written to accommodate a very large number of respondents from every size and type company.  Therefore, the person best suited to fill it out is the individual who knows the most about your company’s workforce demands, wages, benefits, and perhaps most importantly, what your workforce demands will be in one and three years. 

Who will have access to the results?  Only companies that fill out the survey may receive the aggregated results.  No results will be available until the amount of data collected is statistically correct, therefore; individual respondent’s data are protected.  In other words, there must be data from at least five companies in each industry sector before aggregated results can be downloaded.  This restriction will ensure that no other company will see your individual data.  Workforce Solutions will have access to all the data entered so they can monitor its accuracy, spot flawed data entry that would skew results, and inform community-based and education-based entities where improvements need to be made to better serve all local employers. 

How will I know that the information is current?  Once you have filled out a survey, the system will remember you and send you a request to update your data annually.  This way you only need to enter the data that needs updating.
